When you’ve got the gang round and are dissecting your cheese board, invariably a Brie vs Camembert debate will crop up. At CG, we like to not only solve these headaches but bring people together in the process...in actual fact Camembert probably started its life as Brie. Shock, horror! For the ease of transportation, the French started making smaller sized Bries but inadvertently, giving the cheese a different taste profile. It ripened faster and became slightly sharper. Both are great (it’s cheese) but with Camembert you get a slightly more rugged, punchy bitter mushroom twang, compared to perhaps the more creamy, easy going nature of a Brie.
Plus, a little known fact, Camembert is known as the only cheese to coax bears out of caves. Fact (ish). Our Come-on-bear is 250g.
