Vinho Verde is Northern Portugal's dangerously drinkable refreshing wine offering. It has made a welcome comeback over the past few years and is a perfect example of why we should be drinking more of these wines. Made from the Alvarinho grape (known as Albariño in neighboring Spain), it shows plenty of red apple fruit, with notes of quince and unripe apricot on the nose. The palate has an almost salty note and whilst it is packed full of fresh acidity there is also a soft creamy mouthfeel which is a beautiful foil to the tangy salinity. A hedonistic, pleasurable white wine through and through which is just oh so smooth.
